Okuma V-System 200a Review

Okuma has consistently produced fishing gear at the higher end of the market but at an affordable price. Okuma has now truly set a standard for low profile baitcaster reels with the V-System 200a. This reel features 9 stainless steel HPB bearings to increase smoothness and corrosion resistance as well as maintaining the overall quality of the reel. This tough little reel has a rigid one piece diecast aluminium frame, precision machine cut brass gearing and a multi-disk Rulidium drag system to ensure maximum confidence when you have hooked your dream fish.

Quick release spool access

My favourite feature of the V-System is the quick release spool access port. This makes it quick and easy to adjust the 6 pin velocity control system at the side of the spool. Unlike any affordable baitcaster on the market, the V-System comes with two spools, a large arbour wiffle spool which allows for maximum casting distance and the traditional standard arbour spool. This is great for travelling as you can quickly and efficiently change your line from a light line to heavy one depending on your targeted fish. I suggest having the wiffle spool loaded with braid for casting hardbodies at barra in the top end, while the traditional spool has mono for trolling for tailor down south.

When put to the test you will know why they call Okuma gear ‘High Performance’

  2. Tackle stores like BCF sell the Okuma V-System 200a. It costs around $289.00 but when BCF has sales it goes down to $230.00 which is a great price for a reel with all these features. Having two spools it makes it practically a 2 in 1 and the reel comes with lifetime guarantee. I hope this helps.
